Blepharoplasty is the removal of excess skin on the eyelids, bags or periorbital wrinkles. These areas are very delicate and of paramount importance in functional and aesthetic terms. As age advances, the skin loses collagen and elastin, becomes flaccid and causes folds or fat deposits that accumulate in the upper and/or lower eyelids. The operation is carried out under local anesthesia and light sedation. Recovery takes about a week for upper blepharoplasty but can be longer for lower blepharoplasty.
