Mastopexy or breast lift consists of lifting it when it is saggy or ptosed. There are basically three types of mastopexy: The simplest consists in the removal of a growing amount of skin over the nipple, so as to slightly raise the breast . It can be associated with any form of breast augmentation. The second type is to remove an area of skin around the nipple in the form of a lollypop, reducing the size of the areola. It may or may not be associated with a use of a silicone protese. The third and widest one results in a periareolar scar.
Any of these procedures can be performed with local anesthesia and sedation. They are well tolerated and allow the return to normal activities between a day and a week. Breast tenderness and ability to breastfeed are not affected.
